November 26, 2022

Diamond Miller dropped 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and had seven rebounds leading Maryland to victory over Towson, 81-70, at the Elevance Health Women’s Fort Myers Tip-Off on Saturday afternoon.

The Terrapins also got 14 points apiece from Shyanne Sellers and Faith Masonius, and Abby Meyers added 11. Transition play was the key for Maryland, who forced 16 turnovers and outscored Towson in the paint 34-24.

Skye Williams paced Towson with 19 points, three rebounds and three assists. India Johnston made five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points, and Kylie Kornegay-Lucas showcased her all-around ability with 16 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals in the contest.

It was a back-and-forth first half, with eight lead changes and eight ties. Maryland held a 39-34 lead at the break, paced by 10 points apiece from Masonius and Miller. Williams stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including 2-for-2 from 3-piont range, two rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in the half for Towson.

Towson kept things close, trailing by six near the end of the third quarter. A Meyers layup in the waning seconds pushed Maryland’s lead to 57-49 heading into the fourth. Timely free throw shooting thwarted any Towson comeback attempt from there, allowing the Terrapins to secure the win.

Maryland concludes play at the Elevance Health Women’s Fort Myers Tip-Off against Pitt at 11:30 am ET on Sunday, while Towson matches up with DePaul at 2:00 pm. Both games will be streamed live on FSWBucs.com/FSWBucsLive.
