Meyers Leads the Way in Maryland Victory Over Pitt
Abby Meyers scored 23 points and a third-quarter scoring barrage fueled Maryland to an 87-63 win over Pitt at the Elevance Health Women’s Fort Myers Tip-Off on Sunday afternoon.
After leading by seven at halftime, Maryland outscored Pitt 36-21 in the third quarter to take control of the game. The Terrapins scored more points in the third quarter (36) than in the first half (33), and outscored Pitt in points off turnovers, 22-5 in the contest.
Brinae Alexander shot 5-of-8 from 3-point range and finished with 17 points, Shyanne Sellers had 13 points, four assists and four steals, and Lavender Briggs tallied 10 points and eight rebounds for Maryland.
Maliya Johnson led Pitt with 11 points and five rebounds, and Channise Lewis scored nine and dished out five assists.
The Big Ten/ACC Challenge awaits both teams. Maryland travels for a road matchup at Notre Dame on December 1 and Pitt hosts Illinois on November 30.
